PUNE- Oxford of the East
Pune is one of the very few places in the country which have a great historical tradition and a wonderful geographical location. Almost four centuries ago it came on the political map as a place where the patriotic fervour and strong nationalism started taking roots. Located at an altitude of 2,000 ft above the sea level and partially hidden by the mighty ranges of Sahyadri Mountain, the place has witnessed a spectacular advancement, a tremendous growth and a rapid face lift yet retaining its ancient flavours and oriental character.
Great legends in the Indian history unfolded themselves here- of brave warriors; of staunch patriots; of great social reformers; of artists, artisans and artistes of great talents; of saints and sages excelling in spiritual teachings and cultural renaissance – to make Pune a “synthesis between modern science and ancient wisdom”.
The seat of the great Maratha power three centuries ago, Pune today is a place of educational advancement, technological prosperity and cultural exchange. It is the seat of thriving manufacturing industry- especially engineering and automobile. It is a hub of IT, BPO & ITES businesses. It has eight universities. The infinite skyline, which years ago was dotted with temples, forts , mountains ranges has several new additions in the form of new temples of learning . The ultra-modern campuses of Symbiosis International University dominate this scenario by providing an invincible combination of world class infrastructure and a scope for vigorous pursuit of various categories of academic, intellectual and cultural activities.
