Course Timings :
The courses are available in flexi-timings. The students can choose from any of the following batches :

Course Design :

The Course Plan is designed according to levels. The training includes :

1. Basic Grammar and Usage : Sentence Structure, Word Order, Parts of Speech, Dictionary Forms, Tenses.

2. Listening, Reading and Speaking Skills : Audio exercises to give practice and familiarize students with the language. Reading practice and comprehension to improve pronunciation and understanding. Conversational units related to daily routine and more, in order to enhance speaking skills. The students are made aware of accent, pitch and intonation.

3. Video Clippings and Films : These project day-to-day activities of a country, thus giving the students a feel and understanding of the language, culture, society and the lifestyle of the respective countries.

4. Writing skills, General and Technical Vocabulary : Concentration on proper script acquisition, preparation and expansion of ideas, standard formats of writing and general and technical vocabulary.

5. Cultural, Geographic, Literary background of respective countries : Students are made aware of these factors. They present projects based on this information.

6. Conversational Units, Role Plays, Handling Situations : Speaking
exercises build the confidence necessary to use the right sentence structure and vocabulary.

7. Activities : Elocution, Reading Competitions, Projects, Skits and more are regularly conducted. The students are encouraged to participate in these activities.

Other Activities :

Corporate Training : SIFIL has customized modules for working professionals. It focuses mainly on business communication skills, general and technical vocabulary and specific situation handling.

Specialized Language Training for Management Students :
Foreign language training is a part of the curriculum in Symbiosis Management Institutes. As a result, the degree holder also gets basic knowledge of a foreign language that he or she opts for. This course is meant to broaden the opportunities of international jobs or business.

Teacher Training Programmes :
To keep teachers upgraded and aware of latest development in teaching methodologies, we have regular teacher training programmes.

Centre for Interpretation and Translation at SIFIL :

A) Translation & Localization Services:

Use of SDL Trados 2007 translation tool for translating documents.

B) Interpretation Services:
Trained interpreters help you understand your clients better.

C) Cultural Sensitization:
Faculty well versed in the nuances of the language familiarize you with the socio-cultural fabric of the target country.

Rules and Regulations : (Applicable to all SIFIL Courses)

* Counselling (free of charge) is necessary before admission to any course. Fees are non-refundable. Transfers to any other course later on, will not be entertained.
* Admissions are granted on first come first served basis.
* The award of certificate will be subject to : a] Minimum 85 % attendance.  ●Coming late by more than 15 minutes will be considered as absence. ●Less than 85% attendance will result in deduction of marks. b] Individual passing of 50% in written and oral assessment is mandatory.    c] Students who fail to attend minimum 75% of the course are not eligible to appear for the final exam. d] Students are eligible to appear for the final exam only if he/she has taken both the internal exams. e] Student’s performance in tests and assignments.

* Students may avail of the library facility from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm and from 3.00 to 6.00 pm. Books will not be issued for home-reading.
* Students should strictly switch off their cell phones or put them on silent mode during classes.
* All Symbiosis Campuses are "Non Smoking Zones".
* Parking is regulated centrally from the head office of Symbiosis Society for all campuses. Students are requested to obtain a pass from the parking attendant for the duration of the course, at a nominal cost.
* Violation of the rules or impolite/rude behaviour with staff members will result in cancellation of admission.
* In all matters of disagreement, the decision of the Director will be final.

SIFIL Activities:     

SIFIL organizes a variety of activities during each course.
1)
Cookery Competition: The weekend batches of German, French and Spanish languages had a cookery contest on Sat, Jan 14, 2012. This event gives the students an opportunity to understand   culture and food habits of the respective countries. They participated enthusiastically.


2) Project display: Students are made to study the language in various perspectives – cultural, industrial, commercial and more.  They select themes for group activity and make presentations in the form of posters.  There is an oral assignment based on the same too.
