b) Diploma of Proficiency in English and Career Skills
Duration : 1 year (2 semesters)
Fees : US$ 1150+ Rs. 250/- for prospectus + Rs. 1800/- for books
Course material per semester + Rs. 1300/- SIU exam fees per semester
Eligibility : Std XII passing or Diploma holder of any course.

The student should have basic proficiency in English language for taking admission to the Diploma Course. This course will enhance the language skills of the student and help them to take a UG/PG course in English medium. The Exam shall be conducted by Symbiosis International University(SIU) and Diploma shall be awarded by SIU.

36th Annual Day of English Language Teaching Institute of Symbiosis (ELTIS) and Symbiosis Institute of Indian and Foreign Languages (SIFIL) was celebrated with pomp and gaiety on March 18, 08 at Symbiosis Vishwabhavan Auditorium.

Chief Guest H E Mr. Ly. Bounkham , Ambassador of Laos, ( Lao Peoples Democratic Republic) and Guests of Honour HE Ms. Nabila Salama, Consul General of Egypt and H E Mr. Gul Hussain Ahmadi, Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan received a warm welcome from an energized multitude of International Students.

In his address, H E Mr. Ly Bounkham, requested all the students to work hard and promote peace and solidarity among each other.

While addressing the students, Ms. Nabila Salama, , said that she was highly impressed by the international solidarity displayed by students at ELTIS.

As is the custom at Symbiosis, the guests were felicitated at the hands of Padmashree Dr. S.B. Mujumdar, President and Founder Director, Symbiosis. The Director of ELTIS- SIFIL presented the annual report highlighting the achievements of ELTIS and SIFIL

The students from 21 different countries presented small flags to the guests to convey a message of International Peace and Solidarity. Release of 'Fusion, ELTIS-SIFIL magazine took place at the hands of the Chief Guest H. E. Mr. Ly Bounkham, FUSION, which showcases the major events of the year, provides a platform for the students to express their views, and is also enriched by contributions from the faculty members.

The International students presented a colourful cultural programme to the packed audience.

English Language Teaching Institute of Symbiosis (ELTIS) organized ‘Sports Day’ for International Students on Monday 17th March, 2008 at Govt. Polytechnic College Ground, Model Colony, Pune.

Yes, we are expanding. We have successfully completed corporate training assignments for both SIFIL and ELTIS. The clients list at a glance shows PRAJ Industries, I-flex Solutions, Kirloskar Pneumatics, KPCL, Volkswagen, Wipro Technologies, Force Motors, and more. The training programs were a healthy mix of modules based on English Communication, Basic Writing Skills, Personality Enhancement, Foreign languages like German & Portuguese.

6) Quiz Competition :

Apart from the usual activities for the International students, a Quiz competition was conducted in the month April, for the first time as a part of their curriculum.
Quiz was unique with three special rounds namely General Knowledge, Personality Development and English. Six pairs were selected as final contestants and they showed real sportsman spirit. There were exciting rounds of questions with Quiz Masters Mr. Trevor Martin and Ms. Aparajita.

Mr. Eunseok Han (Korea) and Ms. Kim Hanbi (Korea) were selected as Mr. and Miss ELTIS. Students were proud to be crowned as Mr. and Miss ELTIS.

7) Gala Learning : English with fun !!

This one of its kind workshop was held from 12th to 17th May 2008. The students experienced an out of the classroom way of learning language. They were enthusiastically active and were highly creative in their performances.
The teachers took extra efforts to devise activities and sessions that posed a challenge to the otherwise typical students’ mindset of classroom learning.
Two skits were presented by the International students on the day of the Valedictory Function. The Sleeping Beauty and Three Little Pigs were the two skits performed very well and well received by the audiences also.

The exhibition of their creations was put up three days as a motivation for everybody to move out of the frame for better learning.

Top8) Japanese Exhibition :

ELTIS-SIFIL was all Japanese on Saturday May 17, 2008!
A beautiful exhibition on Japan was put up on campus by the students of Japanese language of SIFIL. It was inaugurated at the hand of Dr. Hari Damle, Head Japanese Language Teachers’ Association, Pune.

The informative and attractive exhibits included stalls on Japanese gardens, Temples, Food, Living Styles, Dolls and Handicrafts like Origami, Railways, Geographical Features, and more. There were power point presentations on Japanese Railways , Temples and Cherry Festival called Hanami.

9) New Courses for Speakfast.

Speakfast Program has launched two new course designs for its Pre-basic and Basic courses. Effective English Writing course was also launched recently.
Functional Hindi course (Level I) took off successfully for a batch of Korean students.
